Tom Heaton, born on April 15, 1986, is an experienced English professional footballer who serves as a goalkeeper. Standing at 1.88 meters (6 ft 2 in), Heaton is a product of the Manchester United academy, having joined the club as a trainee in 2002. Despite spending several years in their youth system and being promoted to the first team by Sir Alex Ferguson, he did not make a senior competitive appearance for United during his initial spell.

Since rejoining Manchester United, Heaton's role has primarily been that of an experienced backup goalkeeper. Despite his limited playing time – only three competitive appearances across both spells with the club – his value to the squad extends beyond on-field contributions.
