Tolu Arokodare - Goal and Skills
Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, commonly known as Tolu, born on November 23, 2000, in Festac Town, Lagos, Nigeria, is a powerful and promising centre-forward. Standing at an imposing 1.97 meters (6 ft 6 in), his physical stature is a defining aspect of his game, allowing him to dominate aerial duels and hold up the ball effectively. Beyond his height, Arokodare possesses a keen eye for goal and a developing all-around attacking game.
Arokodare's professional career began in Latvia with Valmiera FC in 2019. He quickly demonstrated his goal-scoring ability, netting 22 goals in 32 appearances for the club. This prolific start at a young age brought him to the attention of clubs in more prominent European leagues, highlighting his raw talent and potential.
His journey then took him to Germany, where he had a loan spell with 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga during the 2020-2021 season. While his time there was brief and he didn't score in his 10 appearances, it provided him with valuable experience in a top-five European league. Following this, he moved to France, joining Amiens SC in Ligue 2 on loan for two seasons (2021-2023), where he continued to develop his game and found the back of the net 14 times in 55 appearances.
In January 2023, Arokodare made a permanent move to Belgian club Genk, where he has truly flourished. He has become a pivotal figure for the club, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess consistently. In the 2024-2025 season, he had his most impressive campaign to date, scoring 23 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions for Genk. This outstanding performance saw him capture the prestigious Ebony Shoe award in May 2025, given to the best African player in the Belgian Pro League.
Tolu Arokodare's Transfer Rumour to Manchester United:
Recent reports have strongly linked Tolu Arokodare with a potential move to English Premier League giants Manchester United. These rumors gained significant traction, particularly after Arokodare himself openly expressed his admiration for the club and his dream of playing in the Premier League. He stated, "Obviously, it's a dream to play in the Premier League, but I have my eyes on it for sure. Whatever options I have, I'll take my time and make the best decision. I'm a Manchester United fan, and if it happens, it would mean a lot to me and my family.”
Manchester United are reportedly in the market for attacking reinforcements, with current strikers Rasmus Højlund and the newly acquired Matheus Cunha from Wolves (June 2025) potentially being joined by another forward. Arokodare's profile, including his physicality, goal-scoring record, and relatively affordable valuation (reportedly around £20 million), makes him an appealing option for the Red Devils, especially if they struggle to secure more expensive targets like Viktor Gyökeres.
While Manchester United have already made significant attacking moves in the current transfer window, with Bryan Mbeumo also reportedly closing in on a deal, the interest in Arokodare suggests they are looking to add depth and a different dimension to their forward line. His aerial ability and physicality could offer a valuable alternative in various tactical situations.
Internationally, Tolu Arokodare has recently broken into the Nigerian national team. He made his senior debut for the Super Eagles in March 2025 and scored his first international goal in a friendly in June 2025. His strong club form has propelled him onto the international stage, further increasing his profile and market value.
