Rafael William Struick, born on March 27, 2003, in Leidschendam, Netherlands, is a professional footballer who has garnered significant attention for his performances as a forward or winger. While born in the Netherlands, Struick represents the Indonesia national team, having obtained Indonesian citizenship on May 22, 2023, through his Indonesian ancestry from both parents.
Struick began his youth career at RKAVV and Forum Sport before joining the academy at ADO Den Haag. He made his senior debut for ADO Den Haag in the Eerste Divisie on May 6, 2022. Following his debut, he signed his first professional contract with the club in June 2022. He played 9 matches for ADO Den Haag between 2022 and 2024.
In September 2024, Struick made a move to the A-League Men, signing with Brisbane Roar. He debuted for the Australian club on October 19, 2024, against Auckland FC. Shortly after, on November 1, 2024, he scored his first professional league goal for Brisbane Roar in a match against Sydney FC. He made 10 appearances and scored 1 goal for Brisbane Roar during the 2024-2025 season.
However, as of July 2025, Rafael Struick is currently without a club, having been released by Brisbane Roar. Recent reports and social media activity strongly suggest that he is close to joining Dewa United in the Indonesian Super League. An Instagram story shared by Struick showed him being picked up by a man holding a sign that read "Welcome Mr. Rafael S," with a partially obscured logo resembling that of Dewa United on the man's pants.
Struick's international career has been a significant aspect of his profile. He first appeared for Indonesia U-20 on November 19, 2022, scoring a goal against Slovakia U-20. He then moved up to the Indonesia U-23 team, making his debut in September 2023 and scoring in a 9-0 win against Chinese Taipei. He also scored a brace against South Korea in the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup.
For the senior Indonesia national team, Struick made his debut on June 14, 2023. As of March 20, 2025, he has made 26 appearances for the senior team, scoring 1 goal. His first senior international goal came on October 10, 2024, in a World Cup Qualifying match against Bahrain, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
On the field, Struick is known for his versatility, capable of playing as a forward or a winger on either flank. He is praised for his relentless work rate, intelligent movement, and ability to create chances. Some analysts have likened his playing style to that of Cody Gakpo, noting his flexibility as an attacker, his ability to read situations, and his strength in duels.
His strong physical presence (standing at 1.85 m) and technical skills allow him to hold up the ball, dribble past defenders, and make intelligent runs into the box. Despite his primary role in attack, he also contributes defensively, making him a valuable asset to the teams he plays for.
