Nguyen Van Toan, born on April 12, 1996, in Hai Duong, Vietnam, is a dynamic forward and winger renowned for his attacking prowess and relentless work rate. His journey in professional football began at a young age, as he joined the Hoang Anh Gia Lai–Arsenal JMG Academy in 2007, a testament to his early promise and talent that would later blossom on the national and international stages.

His senior club career commenced in 2015 when he made his debut for Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) in V.League 1. Over the years, he became a stalwart for HAGL, known for his speed, agility, and keen eye for goal. Notably, in the 2019 V.League 1 season, he showcased his creative abilities by not only scoring 9 goals but also providing 11 assists, making him the league's top assist provider and earning him a spot in the Team of the Season.

In 2022, Nguyen Van Toan ventured abroad, signing with South Korean K League 2 club Seoul E-Land. This move marked a significant step in his career, offering him exposure to a different footballing environment. Although his time in South Korea was relatively short, it provided valuable experience before his return to Vietnamese football.

Currently, Nguyen Van Toan is a key player for Thep Xanh Nam Dinh in V.League 1, having joined them in October 2023. With Nam Dinh, he has continued to demonstrate his goal-scoring capabilities and overall influence on the team's attacking play. His contributions have been instrumental in the club's recent successes, including winning the V.League 1 championship in the 2023-2024 season and the Vietnamese Super Cup in 2024.

On the international front, Nguyen Van Toan has been a consistent presence for the Vietnam national team since his debut in 2016. He has represented his country in numerous prestigious tournaments, including multiple editions of the ASEAN Championship (formerly AFF Championship). He was a vital part of the squads that triumphed in the ASEAN Championship in both 2018 and 2024, contributing crucial goals and assists throughout these campaigns.
