Marcos Leonardo - Best Skills, Assists and Goals

Marcos Leonardo Santos Almeida, commonly known as Marcos Leonardo, was born on May 2, 2003, in Itapetinga, Brazil. His football journey began at a young age when he joined the renowned Santos FC youth academy in 2014. Santos, a club famed for producing legendary Brazilian talents like Pelé and Neymar, provided the ideal environment for Leonardo to develop his promising abilities as a striker. He quickly made a name for himself in the youth ranks, consistently demonstrating a keen eye for goal.

His impressive goal-scoring prowess at youth level, including netting 13 goals in 17 appearances for the U17 squad at just 16, led to his promotion to the senior team. Marcos Leonardo made his professional debut for Santos in August 2020, at the age of 17. He swiftly adapted to senior football, and notably became the sixth-youngest player to score in the Copa Libertadores, a testament to his early impact.

Throughout his time at Santos FC from 2020 to 2023, Marcos Leonardo became an undisputed starter and a prolific scorer for the club. He consistently delivered goals in the Brazilian Série A, becoming one of Santos' top 50 all-time goalscorers. His performances for Santos attracted significant attention from clubs in Europe.

In January 2024, Marcos Leonardo made his move to European football, joining Portuguese giants Benfica. While his spell at Benfica was relatively short, he continued to add to his experience and adapt to a different style of football. This period served as a stepping stone in his burgeoning career.

In September 2024, Marcos Leonardo moved to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. He quickly made a significant impact, establishing himself as a key attacking force for the Saudi Arabian side. In his first Saudi Pro League campaign (2024-2025), he scored an impressive 17 goals in 24 matches. He has also performed well in the FIFA Club World Cup, notably scoring twice, including the winning goal, in a 4-3 victory over Manchester City in the Round of 16 in June 2025.

Marcos Leonardo's playing style is characterized by his predatory instincts inside the penalty box. He is a clinical finisher, capable of scoring with both feet and is particularly effective in aerial situations despite his height of 1.77m. He possesses intelligent movement, often finding dangerous spaces and reacting quickly to loose balls and deflections. While not known for raw pace, his agility, quick reactions, and decision-making allow him to exploit defensive vulnerabilities.

He is often described as a "poacher," thriving on any chance he is given and demonstrating remarkable composure and precision in front of goal. His ability to make intelligent runs to stretch opposition defenses and his strong dribbling skills to carry the ball into dangerous areas further enhance his attacking threat.

Internationally, Marcos Leonardo has represented Brazil at various youth levels, including the U16, U20, and U23 squads. He was a prominent figure for Brazil in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he finished as the tournament's second-highest scorer, showcasing his talent on a global stage. As of July 2025, he continues to be a crucial forward for Al-Hilal, consistently contributing with goals and impactful performances in major competitions.
