Julio Enciso - Season 2025 Highlight

Julio César Enciso Espínola, born on January 23, 2004, in Caaguazú, Paraguay, is one of the most exciting young talents to emerge from South America in recent years. His football journey began at his local club before he was recruited by the youth academy of Club Libertad, one of Paraguay's most prominent teams, at the age of twelve. It was here that he rapidly developed his raw talent and impressive skill set.

Enciso's rise at Libertad was nothing short of meteoric. He made his senior debut for the club at just 15 years old in March 2019, becoming the youngest player to feature for Libertad in the Paraguayan Primera División. He quickly established himself as a regular starter, showcasing his fearless attacking style and contributing with goals and assists, drawing significant attention from European scouts.

In June 2022, a major move saw Enciso transfer to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported fee of £9.5 million. This was a significant step, transitioning from South American football to one of the most competitive leagues in the world. Despite some initial adaptation and an injury, he quickly impressed with his bursts of pace, close control, and audacious long-range shooting.

His time at Brighton has been marked by moments of brilliance, including a stunning long-range goal against Manchester City in May 2023, which earned him the Premier League Goal of the Season award. This particular strike became emblematic of his potential and his ability to produce highlight-reel moments. While not always a consistent starter due to the competitive nature of the Premier League and minor injuries, his impact when on the pitch was undeniable.

For the 2024-25 season, Enciso moved on loan to Ipswich Town, who were recently promoted to the Premier League. This move was intended to provide him with consistent starting opportunities in the top flight, allowing him to further develop his game and gain crucial experience in a demanding environment. He has already begun to make his mark at Ipswich, contributing goals and assists and showing why he is so highly rated.

Enciso's playing style is defined by his dynamism and flair. He primarily operates as an attacking midfielder or a winger, often cutting inside from the left. He possesses exceptional dribbling ability, utilizing his low center of gravity and quick changes of direction to evade defenders. He also has a powerful and accurate shot from distance, making him a threat from various areas on the pitch.

On the international stage, Julio Enciso has been a rapidly ascending figure for the Paraguay national team. He made his senior international debut in June 2021 at just 17 years old, becoming one of the youngest players to represent his country. He has since become a regular in the squad, featuring in World Cup qualifiers and the Copa América, where he scored a goal in the 2024 edition. He has also represented Paraguay at U15 and U23 (Olympic Games) levels.

As he continues his loan spell at Ipswich Town in the 2024-25 Premier League season, Enciso remains a player with immense potential. His blend of raw talent, a fearless approach to the game, and a growing understanding of tactical demands makes him a player to watch closely as he aims to establish himself as a consistent performer at the highest level of European football and for his national team.
