Faris Moumbagna - Goals and Skills

Faris Pemi Moumbagna, born on July 1, 2000, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, is a powerful centre-forward who has carved a unique path through various football leagues. His early development took him from Rainbow FC in Cameroon to Montverde Academy in the United States, showcasing an early international outlook to his burgeoning career.

His professional journey began in the United States with Bethlehem Steel FC (now Philadelphia Union II) in the USL Championship. During his two seasons from 2018 to 2019, Moumbagna demonstrated his potential as a goal-scorer, notably breaking the team's single-season scoring record in 2019 with 11 goals, a promising start to his senior career.

In May 2020, Moumbagna made the leap to European football, signing with Kristiansund BK in the Norwegian Eliteserien. He spent several seasons in Norway, including a loan spell at SønderjyskE in Denmark in 2021-2022. While his time in Denmark yielded only one goal, his consistent performances in Norway, particularly his physical presence and aerial threat, caught the eye.

His impressive form in Norway led to a transfer to FK Bodø/Glimt in January 2023. This move proved to be a significant turning point in his career. At Bodø/Glimt, Moumbagna truly thrived, becoming a key offensive player and contributing to their success. He helped the club win the Eliteserien title in 2023, showcasing his ability to perform at the highest level in Norway.

His strong performances with Bodø/Glimt, including scoring 15 goals in 28 league appearances in 2023 and also contributing in European competitions, naturally attracted attention from bigger clubs in more prominent leagues. This consistent output and his physical attributes made him a desirable target for teams looking for a robust striker.

In January 2024, Faris Moumbagna completed a significant transfer to Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1, one of Europe's top five leagues, for a reported fee of €8 million. This move marked a major step up in his career, providing him with the opportunity to test his skills against higher-caliber defenders and in a more demanding environment.

Moumbagna's playing style is defined by his strength, pace, and ability to hold up the ball and link play. He is a left-footed striker who provides a significant physical presence in the final third, making him effective in aerial duels and when operating with his back to goal. His directness and shot power also make him a threat in front of goal.

On the international stage, Faris Moumbagna represents the Cameroon national team. He made his senior debut for the Indomitable Lions in November 2023 and has since become a regular in their squad, including participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. While he has yet to score for his national team as of June 2025, his inclusion highlights his growing stature in African football. He continues to ply his trade with Marseille in Ligue 1.
