His professional journey began in the United States with Bethlehem Steel FC (now Philadelphia Union II) in the USL Championship. During his two seasons from 2018 to 2019, Moumbagna demonstrated his potential as a goal-scorer, notably breaking the team's single-season scoring record in 2019 with 11 goals, a promising start to his senior career.
In May 2020, Moumbagna made the leap to European football, signing with Kristiansund BK in the Norwegian Eliteserien. He spent several seasons in Norway, including a loan spell at SønderjyskE in Denmark in 2021-2022. In January 2024, Faris Moumbagna completed a significant transfer to Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1, one of Europe's top five leagues, for a reported fee of €8 million.
